The Chief Justice of Nigeria has been urged by the Young Progressives Party (YPP) to move the citing of the Akwa-Ibom Governorship Petition Tribunal to Abuja.
This was said in a statement released by Mr. Egbeola Wale-Martins, the YPP’s national publicity secretary, on Thursday in Abuja.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayade Ariwoola, is urged to urgently relocate the ongoing Governorship Petition Tribunal in Akwa-Ibom to Abuja because “desperate times call for desperate measures.”

“This is to stop the PDP’s desperate attempts to intimidate everyone, including the tribunal, into compliance. The tribunal must continue to uphold its impartiality, which is already in jeopardy due to the PDP’s illegal conduct.

Additionally, we urge Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, the acting inspector general of police, to send a clear message to police personnel who have offered to serve as willing tools in the state administration by using the Akwa-Ibom situation as a yardstick.

Additionally, “all our key witnesses and pertinent YPP stakeholders in Akwa-Ibom should be provided with adequate security protection,” he stated.

If granted the opportunity to make its case before the tribunal, Wale-Martins stated that the party was optimistic about winning the case.
