After losing to Tottenham, Fulham manager Silva defends Bassey

Fulham manager Marco Silva has defended Calvin Bassey in the aftermath of the defender’s performance in the side’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

Following the loss at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Bassey was singled out for criticism.

Silva used the Nigeria international in his usual right center-back position in the encounter.

The centre-back struggled throughout the game and was to blame for the Whites’ two goals.

Silva, on the other hand, has absolved Bassey of any guilt for the defeat.

“Tottenham pressed really hard and especially on Calvin,” Silva said after the game.

“They were aware that we were fielding a left-footed central defender on the right side, and we were punished for the error.”

“We spoke at half-time that the solution for Bassey has to be completely different, the position of our midfield has to be completely different for him to have a solution.”
