Appeal Court voids LP’s Denis Agbo’s election in Enugu

Denis Agbo, the candidate chosen on the Labour Party platform in the most recent election, has been dismissed by the Court of Appeal located in Lagos State.

Agbo, who was representing the Udenu/Igboeze North federal seat in Enugu State, was dismissed by the court, which also mandated a new election to be held in ninety days.

In a ruling on the appeal of Dr. Oby Ajih, the candidate for the All Progressives Congress, the court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to hold new elections for all parties concerned on Friday using Zoom.

Ajih had gone to the appellate court to contest the tribunal’s decision that the election did not follow the proper procedure since her party’s emblem was not in the EC8A format.

In a ruling that lasted less than thirty minutes, the appellate court determined that the appeal had validity and overturned the tribunal’s decision.

They said that it is against the electoral statute for the result sheet (form EC8A) to have the APC’s logo missing.
