A controversy surrounds Dbanj’s reported detention

Popular performer Dbanj has reportedly been detained by police in Abuja.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) reportedly detained Dbanj for allegedly diverting hundreds of thousands of naira from the N-power project.

The musician, who had ignored his summons for months, reportedly turned himself in on Monday. Then, he allegedly was jailed and had his bail rejected.

According to reports, Dbanj colluded with dishonest government employees to add phantom recipients to the funds’ payroll; the money was eventually linked to accounts connected to the singer.

His close friend Mallam Yankee responded, though, and refuted the arrest.

According to Yankee, the musician was invited but not detained, according to gospelcable.

“As far as I know, he was invited and not detained. His business partner is the person they are looking for, he continued.
