Adeleke warns against a breakdown in peace and order in the LGAs of Osun

Ademola , the governor of Osun State, has issued a warning against engaging in any behavior or undertaking any actions that would be detrimental to the state's prosperity and tranquility.

Adeleke also instructed all security services in the State to strictly maintain peace and order in a statement issued by the Governor's spokesperson Olawale Rasheed.

The warning follows a Federal High Court decision in Osogbo on Friday that rejected an oral motion for a stay of execution made by the ousted elected Osun local executives.

The Osun Government claims that the opposition party's legal representatives reacted negatively to the decision and allegedly incited violence.

Recall that the Osun local government election was ruled unconstitutional by the Federal High Court in Osogbo on Friday, November 25, 2022.

While declaring the procedure invalid, the court, presided over by Justice Ayo Nathaniel Emmanuel, ordered the elected Chairmen and council members to resign from their positions.

In accordance with the ruling, the governor ordered the top civil employees to assume control of the local governments, local council development regions, and area offices on Monday, November 28, 2022.

In order to prevent a breakdown in law and order, the governor gave security services orders to intervene and maintain the status quo on Monday.

The Governor also revoked the Certificates of Returns already given to the elected Chairmen and council members and suspended Segun Oladitan, Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), and other members of the OSIEC Board.

According to gospelcable, OSIEC stated on August 15, 2022, that it would hold local government elections in the State.

The Osun Peoples Democratic Party (), however, challenged the results of the election and took OSIEC to the Federal High Court.

The party that demanded the OSIEC chairman's arrest and imprisonment argued that the election was invalid and violated the Electoral Act of 2022.

Following the local government election, OSIEC received a passing grade from the Osun State House of Assembly.
