Among those killed in helicopter disaster are Oborevwori and Wigwe

The news of the tragic helicopter crash in the US that killed Mr. Herbert Wigwe, wife Doreen, and son Chizi has shocked and saddened Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. Mr. Wigwe was the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Access Bank.

On Monday, Governor Oborevwori expressed his condolences for the loss of life in the incident, along with those of former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), Abimbola Ogunbanjo, according to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon.

Awful, tragic, shocking, and sad were the words used by the governor to describe their deaths. According to Oborevwori, Wigwe changed the banking and commercial climate with her vision and professionalism. He made it clear that he would be greatly missed by the Nigerian business community.

His deepest sympathies go out to the family, relatives, and acquaintances of the deceased as well as Access Holdings. He prays that God would give them the strength to endure these unfathomable losses.

“I am profoundly saddened by the news of the unfortunate crash in the United States of America that claimed the lives of Mr. Herbert Wigwe, Group CEO of Access Bank, his wife and son, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, a former Group Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group, and others,” Governor Oborevwori said.

Wigwe was a man with vision who changed the face of banking in Nigeria. The financial industry has suffered a terrible loss with his passing.

During this sad time, my deepest sympathies go out to his loved ones, friends, and coworkers at Access Holdings. Those left behind may find everlasting peace in the arms of our Lord, and may they have the strength to endure this terrible loss.
