Amusan Receives a National Honor, and Medal Winners Receive N200 Million

The Nigerian President, , has awarded Tobi the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) title.

The 25-year-old is now included among those who have garnered national honor after receiving the accolade today at State House in Abuja.

For their great efforts, President Muhammadu Buhari also announced a N200 million gift for Nigerian medalists at several international competitions, including the Commonwealth Games.

On the track, Tobi Amusan has had a prosperous year. She now holds world, African, and commonwealth records. Tobi won the gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2022 World Athletics Championships to become the first Nigerian to win a world championship in an athletic event.
