Bolaji Agbede is appointed as the acting CEO of Access Holdings by Herbert Wigwe

Bolaji Agbede is now serving as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer at Access Holdings Plc.

The sudden death of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, its previous Group Chief Executive Officer, prompted this immediate action.

The Access Holdings Plc Board of Directors issued this announcement on February 12, 2024, after a statement issued on February 11, 2024.

Agbede, the seniorest founding Executive Director responsible for Business Support at Access Holdings Plc, is expected to take leadership of the company’s operations once the Central Bank of Nigeria gives its clearance.

Throughout her nearly 30-year career in banking and business consulting, Agbede has amassed an incredible body of knowledge and a potent combination of competence and strategic aptitude.

Starting her career in 1992 with Guaranty Trust Bank, she worked her way up to management roles by 2001 and then became CEO of the business consulting firm JKG Limited in 2003.

She began working at Access Bank Plc in 2003 in the role of Assistant General Manager, overseeing the bank’s holdings in chemical trading companies. From 2010 until 2022, she served as the bank’s Head of Group Human Resources, a role that suited her leadership skills and strategic acumen.

She went on to become the first Executive Director, Business Support, of Access Holdings Plc, a position in which she was instrumental in the company’s cultural shift and the seamless merger of its several divisions.

She attended the University of Lagos for her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Statistics (1990) and Cranfield University in the United Kingdom for her Master of Business Administration (2002). She holds memberships in both the Nigerian Chartered Institute of Personnel Management and the United Kingdom’s Chartered Institute of Management.
