At the 44th minute of the match at the Centenario Stadium, the 31-year-old player stumbled and collapsed while running, and he was quickly swarmed by players from both teams as he grasped his left knee. Players from both teams were concerned about his injury.

After the game, the team physician for Brazil, Rodrigo Lasmar, stated that Neymar had already been evaluated by medical professionals and that additional evaluations would take place on Wednesday.

“These 24 hours will be critical to monitor how the knee will respond, how the swelling will be,” stated Lasmar. ”

“Imaging studies that will determine a conclusive diagnosis. It is too soon to tell [whether it is an injury to a ligament] at this point. Let’s keep a level head while we wait for the examinations, do some objective assessing, and as soon as we have a definition, we’ll let you know.
