The Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World at Brown University seeks submissions for MENA Archaeology Fellowships postdoctoral fellow posts in archaeology and the ancient world.

Applications are encouraged from exceptional junior scholars who can improve and extend our commitment to inclusive education and research, as well as equity and social justice. They are especially interested in applicants from underrepresented communities.

Criteria for Eligibility for MENA Archaeology Fellowships
You must have proved your ability to do original research, engage in engaged scholarship, and think across disciplines.
Your work must be broadly defined and include recent research on archaeology of the Mediterranean, Egypt, and/or nearby Middle Eastern and North African regions.
You must be an archaeologist with methodological and interdisciplinary knowledge that extends beyond regional specializations and whose research complements that of existing professors.
You must have gotten your doctorate within the last five years and have your Ph.D. in hand by July 1, 2023.
International countries are eligible.

Fellowships for Postdoctoral Research

Two awards were given out.

Value of Awards: Successful candidates will be asked to teach one course every semester in addition to conducting research. Teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels is possible; interdisciplinary offers are preferred. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute significantly to the ongoing development of the Joukowsky Institute, such as by organizing reading or working groups, a topical symposium, or another project that fosters a stimulating intellectual environment in which to pursue research and develop new interdisciplinary or community connections.

Method of Application: By February 15, 2023, all candidates should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, short descriptions of three to four proposed courses (150-300 words each), a statement (150-300 words) of their experience and/or ideas for prioritizing diversity and inclusion in their teaching and research, and contact information for three references. Applications received by this date will be fully considered, however the search will be extended until the position is closed or filled.
