In France’s Round of 16 victory over Poland, Kylian Mbappe was praised by former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.
Ferdinand also thought it was better than Lionel Messi’s outstanding performance in Argentina’s victory the day before.
On Sunday, Mbappe scored twice to lead Les Bleus to a 3-1 victory over Poland.
After the game, Ferdinand told BBC that the 23-year-old’s performance was “confidence-filled.”
Ferdinand compared it to Messi’s performance, which helped Argentina defeat Australia 2-1 and advance to the quarterfinals.
“Yesterday, I spoke about Messi’s best performance.
“Today [Mbappe] had the most explosive performance, devastating in all areas,” Ferdinand said.
Mbappe now has nine goals in the World Cup, having netted four times in Russia four years ago.
