Okowa informs President Buhari, “Count me out of governors looting LG allocation

Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, dissociated himself from people President Muhammadu accused of stealing from local governments on Friday.

The President had asserted on Thursday that State governors were meddling with the monthly allocation to the local councils in , and blamed them for the underdevelopment of communities in the council areas.

Governor Okowa, who is also the vice presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), responded to the accusation in Asaba through his chief press secretary, Olisa Ifeajika, saying that it was regrettable for president Buhari to have made such a “blanket remark.”

I want to add that as someone who is fully informed about all matters affecting the nation, President Buhari is aware of the governors who fall under the description of the ‘thieves' he was alluding to.

There is no place for Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa there. When local government autonomy was established, he was among the first governors to support it, just as the president had done with the court and the legislature, according to him.
