Daniel Sturridge, a former Chelsea forward, thinks Mauricio Pochettino erred tactically in the last moments of Saturday’s 1-1 Premier League match with Manchester City.
In case you forgot, Raheem Sterling and Rodri scored for Chelsea and Man City, respectively, to earn a draw at the Etihad.
On Saturday night, Pep Guardiola’s team had most of the ball, but the Blues were able to capitalize by causing numerous issues for Pep’s defense.
Although Pochettino had already substituted Christopher Nkunku for Sterling in the second half, he chose to replace center back Cole Palmer with Trevoh Chalobah.
Sturridge, on the other hand, thinks Pochettino should have continued with his counter-attacking strategy and not substituted players like Walcott and Sterling.
“Look, I’m enjoying myself, counterattacks, chops and changes, combinations, and all that jazz,” Sturridge remarked while appearing on Sky Sports.
Since we are the aggressors, I believe we have a better chance of getting opportunities. After the first half, they were completely out of luck. At the back, they had reduced to five.
Although Jackson continued to be a threat in the second half, their two most dangerous players, Sterling and Palmer, were substituted.
