Primeboy: “Police never invited me before listing me as wanted

Primeboy, an Afro musician and composer whose real name is Owodunni Ibrahim, claims that the never formally invited him before issuing a wanted notice for him.
This comes after the Lagos State Police Command designated him as a wanted person in a statement on Tuesday.

The authorities are looking for Primeboy, a close friend of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, for allegedly refusing to comply with their request for information on the untimely passing of a former Marlian Records musician.

Before handing himself in on Wednesday, Primeboy spoke with a private television station, TVC. He said that the police never invited him and that he attempted to visit the station to clear his name after people started linking him to the death of his late friend.

“I have never received an invitation from the police, and to say that I did is a big lie,” he proclaimed. I had wanted to defend myself at the station once people started accusing me of killing Mohbad before this matter of proclaiming me wanted arose.

My lawyer and the others I spoke to suggested that I wait for a police invitation rather than going to the station to explain my situation. The news that the police had made me wanted for N1 million to anyone who knew where I was came as a shock.

Primeboy responded to inquiries about whether he was with Mohbad on his most recent show and whether or not they got into a fight by claiming that while they did have problems, it was because of an argument he had with his wife in the car on the day he left for his Ikorodu gig.

“As he (Mohbad) attempted to exit the vehicle, a violent argument developed between him and his wife. But I stopped him, telling him it wasn't safe because Zlatan was still on stage. I was then instructed to exit the vehicle by him. I did, too.

He continued, “I could see by the way he was behaved that day that he was seriously hurt.

The singer, who is currently being held by the police, further questioned Mohbad's wife about accusing him of being involved in the late artist's death online.
