Sanctuary International Scholarships 2023

Newcastle University is glad to offer two international scholarships that cover full tuition fees as well as a living expenses bursary to those who aspire to study at the university. The scholarships are intended to help students from refugee backgrounds advance to higher levels of education.

Imtiaz Dharker, a British poet and artist, is the current Chancellor. On January 1, 2020, she was appointed Chancellor. Chris Day, a hematologist and previous pro-vice-chancellor of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, is the vice-chancellor.

The institution has almost 16,000 undergraduate and 5,600 postgraduate students from more than 120 countries enrolled. Teaching and research are carried out in 19 academic schools, 13 research institutions, and 38 research centers dispersed over three faculties: humanities and social sciences, medical sciences, and science, agriculture, and engineering.

The university provides around 175 full-time undergraduate degree programs in a variety of subject areas including the arts, sciences, engineering, and medicine, as well as approximately 340 postgraduate teaching and research programs in a variety of disciplines.

Every year, it hosts a series of public lectures dubbed ‘Insights’ in the Curtis Auditorium in the Herschel Building. The Herschel Annex houses several of the university’s connections with corporations such as Red Hat.

Criteria for Eligibility for Sanctuary International Scholarships
Applicants must be residents of the United Kingdom at the time of application.
Applicants must be asylum seekers, children of asylum seekers, unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, or those with refugee status.

Applicants must meet the entry requirements for the course at Newcastle University that they desire to pursue. Ideally, a high school diploma and a bachelor’s or master’s degree are required.

Applicants must provide the following English language proficiency exam results: Depending on the course, IELTS 6.5 or higher is required.
International countries are eligible.

Undergraduate, Master’s, or Doctorate

Tuition and living expenses are included in the number of awards.

The total number of awards is five.

Application Procedure: Interested students must submit their initial admission application online. Students who wish to be considered for this scholarship must complete a separate scholarship application form.

The application deadline is April 7, 2023.
