Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, has explained why he wants to be president.
Atiku claims that his goal in seeking the presidency in 2023 is to improve the plight of young Nigerians.
You are the young one. Your tomorrow is here. Good for you if you choose to publicly defend the process. I’ve lived my life, myself. According to a Peoples Gazette story, Mr. Atiku said, “What I’m doing right now, I’m doing for you.
In a video posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, the former vice president from 1999 to 2007 revealed this while speaking to young Nigerians.
All he was interested in, he said, was “guiding you, protecting you, and defending your interest as long as I’m strong, healthy, and alive” at this point in his political career.
Since 1993, Mr. Abubakar has unsuccessfully run for president of Nigeria five times, losing twice in the general election and three times in the party primary level.
At the age of 75, Mr. Abubakar will compete in the 2023 election alongside Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other candidates.
