Posted by Ola Olukoyede, the head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has ordered a halt to all sting operations throughout the commission's commands at night.
This is consistent with the recently revised protocols for suspect arrest and bail.
In response to the arrest of 69 suspected internet fraudsters by agents of the Ibadan Zonal of the Commission in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Wednesday, he issued the directive in Abuja. Many of the suspects that the command properly profiled have already been released, and the remaining suspects will have their profiles finished as soon as possible.
In carrying out its mandate, the commission stated that it wanted to reassure the people that it would uphold the law.
