The country's crude oil theft has raised concerns from Senate President Ahmad Lawan, who warned that unless immediate action is taken, the economy may become paralyzed and stagnate.
In a speech to welcome Senators back from their two-month break, Lawan made this statement on Tuesday.
The economy of our nation continues to face difficulties, he declared. The Senate, the House of Representatives, and the Executive must always look for more effective ways to address the economic crisis.
“New information regarding the scope of oil theft indicates that Nigeria may soon stop receiving any income from that industry unless the government takes swift action.
Therefore, he continued, “We must make sure that everything is done to stop this theft.
