Thieves Break Into Ogun Palace and Steal the Crown as Well as the Office Staff

The palace of the Olu of Ogunmakin town, located in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, is said to have been broken into by alleged robbers, who made off with the crown and the staff of office.

According to what gospelcable has been told, the thugs broke into the palace of the late monarch, Oba James Sodiya, on Thursday. Oba James Sodiya passed away approximately two months ago.

The incident was confirmed to media in Abeokuta on Saturday by the police spokesperson for the state, Omolola Odutola. Odutola also gave journalists in Abeokuta the impression that the police had detained three individuals in connection with the crime.

Odutola stated that the police had found the crown, but that they were still looking for the staff of office. He called the act an abomination when he was speaking about it.

“On the 12th of October 2023, an intelligence report was obtained from the palace of his Royal Majesty stating that one Amusa Kazeem, Oke Oladipupo, and Johnson Oluwole had plotted and stolen the royal crown and the staff of office two months after the death of the king of Ogunmakin. This information was acquired on the 12th of October.

“At approximately 2:00 in the morning, the suspects are said to have entered the house where the late king’s belongings were stored,” the accusation reads.

“The three individuals stole the key, which had been secured in the care of the individual who had been tasked with keeping the property, and they also stole the royal crown and the staff of office that belonged to the deceased monarch, an act that has been described as an abomination.

“As soon as the information was obtained, the police sprang into action, and they were able to collect the royal crown from the residence of one Kazeem Amusan.

“The office staff has not been recovered, but there is a concentrated effort under way to do so.” The suspects have been taken into custody and are currently being questioned, according to a representative for the police department.

According to what she said, the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, made an appeal to members of the public to voluntarily provide information that could lead to the recovery of the staff of office.
