President Muhammadu Buhari's impeachment has not been discussed, according to the leading senate whip Orji Uzor Kalu, because security has increased.

Senator Philip Aduda, who represents the federal capital territory (FCT), was barred by Senate President Ahmad Lawan from speaking about the escalating insecurity and a challenge to Buhari following a private session on July 27. As a result, PDP senators staged a walkout.

According to reports, the majority of senators agreed to give Buhari six weeks to improve security or face impeachment procedures.

The former governor of Abia told media on Tuesday in that the senators of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have enough votes to block the impeachment motion.

The senator declared that the impeachment issue didn't even exist.

“No one is discussing it. They can try, but they won't succeed because there are too many of us to overcome them.

There is nothing improper about a lawmaker threatening to impeach the president, but will they be successful? No! Therefore, in my opinion, the impeachment of Buhari is not being discussed since security has increased.

Some of you were present and can attest that the security issue has improved and will continue to improve, he said. “We have been meeting with the service chiefs,” he said.
